I love reading them everyone else does as well. That being said, if you have any crazy ideas, build ideas or comments related to dnd 5e linguist feat i’d really like to hear them down below in the comment section. ![]() And as i mentioned before the utility benefit of being able to use the cypher is unparalleled. You’ll have a better understanding of the world you’re in so you’ll be able to better choose those three languages to be the most relevant. The three languages super great stuff! especially by this point level four, eight, twelve what have you. Mechanically it doesn’t offer a whole lot of benefit in combat but socially is where really shines. I think this is a perfectly valid choice. Especially if you’re an intelligence based class like the wizard and you’re kind of one off from that modifier bump or you’re kind of just looking for something to polish the character bring it all together. Perfect with that out of the way let’s take a look at my personal thoughts on it. Where it looks like just normal letters writing what have you but the trained eye it actually reveals a different message and you could just give this to all party members or all friendly allies and it can really make planning something like a coup d’etat. Why this is beneficial is you can essentially use structure something like thieves can’t. Why i like this is you can teach it to others and they can automatically read it. So you can make it code as well as break 1 you know what i mean i think that would make more sense and i would certainly allow that in one of my games. I would make the argument that you can also add your proficiency bonus to whatever intelligence check to decipher codes as well. But the most important part of this is the ability to write in the cipher codes. Really makes sense for a lot of characters especially ones with a deep arcana backgrounds or deep historical or religious backgrounds and makes a lot of sense. By that what i mean is the things like celestial would be a good example whenever the lux dogs be every language essentially which is really good, really good stuff. You learned three languages of your choice, i really like this because it doesn’t rule out the exotic languages or the more difficult to learn languages out there. Walkthroughįirst and foremost the intelligence score is pretty self-explanatory just that one to it to a maximum of 20 of course. That being said, let’s do a quick walkthrough.
